Act 165 of 2012 allows former Federal Law Enforcement Officers and former Military Police Officers to obtain a partial waiver of the Act 120 Basic Training. Those that successfully complete the partial waiver Academy and pass the state certification exam will be eligible to be certified as municipal police officers in Pennsylvania.

The Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) has approved a 257 hour course, as well as optional courses if needed, to comply with Act 165. Mansfield University Police Academy has agreed to offer the 257 hour partial waiver Academy. More information will follow, but we anticipate offering the first partial waiver academy in mid to late Fall 2013.

When available, interested applicants can apply to MPOETC (Federal Law Enforcement and Military Police Officers) for an equivalency review to receive approval to attend the partial waiver Academy. Once approved, applicants will be allowed to apply to the Police Academy to complete the admission process for acceptance into the partial waiver Academy.
