The 2013 summer Gifted & Talented camp will provide your child with the opportunity to explore new interests and learn new life skills while making new friends. Students select and participate in fun, educational activities.
This summer our theme is Express Yourself! Throughout the week, campers will explore new ways to make learning fun and interesting both in and out of the classroom. Our campers will participate in activities geared toward new and creative approaches to studying subjects in science, math, history, and the arts.
Come join us and learn how to use your mind and body in new, exciting ways!. Our teachers and counselors are ready to welcome you with open arms and make this year your best camp experience ever! Don't forget to bring your sneakers!
Nick and Katie return to the Gifted Camp as the camp directors for the summer of 2013. Nick received his Bachelors in Music Performance from Bucknell University and currently works for the Interlochen Center for the Arts with young artists from around the world. This is Nick's fourth summer working with the Gifted Camp.
Katie Debach has been both a counselor and a teacher at the Mansfield Gifted Camp for 3 summers, and looks forward to returning this year as co-director and teacher. She graduated from Mansfield University in 2011 with a degree in Music Education, and currently works as a gym, art, and chorus teacher to students of all ages at New Covenant Academy in Mansfield. She enjoys playing the ukulele, telling bedtime stories and singing, and her favorite thing about gifted camp is getting to know the campers!
Nick and Katie are excited for the opportunity to engage with the students, challenge them and explore new ways for them to learn! They are looking forward to seeing returning campers and meeting new ones and working with students on all levels!
Our instructors are college professors, public school teachers, or professionals with expertise and a sincere interest in working with children. Counselors spend 24 hours a day with the campers. Our 1:10 ratio of counselors to campers provides a safe, educational experience. Campers reside in a Mansfield University residence hall.
Your child will choose three academic offerings from a variety of classes. "Click Here" for a listing of our 2013 classes. Class sizes are limited for personalized instruction and is filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Parents and friends are welcome to attend the closing spotlight to showcase the campers completed projects.
Like last year, the evening group project will continue to include technology, however, with a different direction. Be ready to take notes and develop an action plan to share with others what you have learned in your classes throughout the week!
